Klaus Fussi has been appointed Managing Director of Lufthansa, Romania, and succeeding Robert Karl, who held the position for ten years. Karl will now coordinate Lufthansa's operations in the Baltic region. Fussi, who has worked for Lufthansa for 29 years, said that he intends to prioritise increased customer service, including improving the telephone systems and the creation of a web page. He added that a key objective would be to develop Lufthansa's business beyond Bucharest, in the northern part of Romania and in Transylvania, Timisoara, Cluj, Arad, Oradea and Brasov. Fussi confirmed that the airline had held discussions with TAROM and the Ministry of Transport on the issue. He would not comment on rumours that Lufthansa intended to participate in the privatisation of TAROM, except to affirm the benefits of the present partnership.
Lufthansa currently offers 17 flights a week from Bucharest to Frankfurt and Munich
