Engine maker revs up aquisition

Rybinsk to expand newly aquired snowmobile production

According to a report on Russian television, Rybinsk Motors plans to expand its production of the Taiga snowmobile, in order to meet demand. Rybinsk acquired the bankrupt snowmobile producer, Volzky, in November 1999, in order to diversify its business base. Rybinsk intends to increase production of the snowmobile to at least 5000 next year and improve on its 40% share of the Russian market. The Taiga is a heavyweight snowmobile, able to carry two passengers and freight up to 0.5 tonnes. It has a maximim speed of 100km/h.
