Onwards and upwards for Sibir

Siberian carrier delivers another set of strong results

Published: 2/2/2000

Sibir has announced its preliminary operating results for 1999. The board has reported an increase in passenger volume of 19.5%, compared to the previous year. This is against a backdrop in which Russian airlines as a whole carried 6.2% fewer passengers than in 1998, according to preliminary data from the FSVT. Sibir currently occupies fourth or fifth position in terms of passenger revenue kilometres in Russia. These robust figures suggest that its declared objective of becoming one of the main Russian carriers is well founded. Over the past year, it has aggressively pursued this strategy and its success looks set to continue.
