Myasishev looking for government support

It appears from recent statements made by the First Deputy Chief Designer of Myasishev, Valery Shirinyants, that the bureau is still involved in the development of the M-102 Duet with the Indian National Aerospace Laboratories. According to Shirinyants, the twin turboprop multipurpose transport aircraft, will soon receive government support. Although given recent statements from the Russian Aerospace Agency this seems unlikely given that the reported $60m programme is to be equally funded by both sides.
Mayasishev have however, recently received investment commitment from the Kaskol Group holding company, which includes Sokol among its shareholders, for long term investment, with the indication that this includes the Duet programme.
The $4.2m aircraft will be made in Sokol, Nizhni Novgorod, in parallel with the Indian production of the Indian version of the aircraft, the Saras, to be produced by HAL, now a major participant in the programme. The Indian version of the aircraft was meant to fly in 1999 and is now expected to fly later this year.
