Engine production increased to meet demand

Al-31F demand grows from China and India

Published: 4/27/2000

Moscow based engine producer Salyut has announced that intends to increase production of Al-31F engines in 2000. According to Deputy General Director Vladimir Suralev the increase of Al - 31F engines production is to meet the orders for the Su-30MKK and Su-30MKI for China and India respectively. Although production is also being increased according to Suralev for undisclosed customers, Suralev also commented that in 1999 the plant produced more engines than they had customers for, but had subsequently been able to sell almost all the 100 engines. The plant is also responsible for the production of the Al-41 for the fifth generation fighter and also the Al-55 for the trainers.
