UAE backs construction of Albanian airport

Kuksi expected to be operational in 2000

According to local reports, the construction of Kuksi Airport in Albania should start by the end of this year with support from the United Arab Emirates. The cost of the project is reported to be in the region of $30m and the airport is expected to be operational later this year. The airport was originally created by the UAE as a relief strip during the Kosovo crisis.
