Polish bid for UAV

A service unit of UAVs may soon be introduced in Poland.

Published: 3/10/2000

There is speculation that Poland may introduce a service unit equipped with Dornier CL225 UAVs donated by the German army. Initial suggestions were first made public during the Kielce Military Fair last September. According to agreements within a NATO plan, Poland has an obligation to have a UAV unit operational within a few years. Although it is thought that an official bid for the delivery of such a system may be announced in the future, this is not generally considered to be a priority. Nevertheless, US manufacturers are already briefing Polish official about available products. The UAV is fully operational within the Czech Air Force, which has one flight of Sijka II UAVs.
