VD upgrades first An-124-100

New avionics installed on cargo aircraft

Volga-Dnepr (VD) has announced that it has completed the upgrade of an An-124-100, according to terms agreed at the end of September 1999 with the Antonov design bureau. The modernisation programme was carried out in Ulyanovsk and included the installation of Orlan-85ST FM radios with 8.33 kHz channel spacing, TCAS-2000 anti-collision system, RSVM "racetracks" system and BRNAV-5 navigational system. The upgraded AN-124-100, board number 82078, began operating on 13th March. VD now plans to upgrade the avionics on all its An-124-100s during the course of 2000.
