According to Vyacheslav Ivanovsky from East Line's press service, the opening of new international terminal in Domodedovo Airport is part of East Line programme to modernise the complete airport facility including airport building runways, taxiways, jet fueling complex, hotel and meals preparation
The modernisation programme, started two to three years ago, is expected to be completed by 2003 at a cost reported to be $280m. Ivanovsky however, was reluctant to confirm the cost of the modernisation of international terminal separately. The sole investor in the reconstruction, according to Ivanovsky, is the East Line Group
The renovated international terminal can now service 1100 passengers per hour, which according to East Line, is a significant improvement on the terminal's previous capacity. The reported moves by a number of foreign airlines to Domodedovo were not confirmed or denied by Ivanovsky, who refused to comment on the basis that no agreement have been reached as yet.
Domodedovo Airport is currently used by 62 scheduled airlines primarily from Russia and the CIS including Moldavian Airlines, Azerbaijan Airlines, Dnieperavia from Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan Airlines, Tajikistan's Tochikiston, Uzbekistan Airlines, Air Kazakhstan, East Line Airlines, Domodedovo Airlines, Chelyabinsk Airlines, State Transport Company Rossya, Bashkirya Airlines, Vnukovo Airlines (which moved some of its operations to Domodedovo Airport from Vnukovo Airport) and Krasair. Domodedovo Airport services 26 charter airlines including Volga-Dnepr, Iron Dragon-FLY from Tatarstan, Atlant-Soyuz, Polyot (Flight), Armenia's Yerevan-Avia and Ukraine's Odessa Airlines.
