Aeroflot maintenance agreement

Aeroflot have signed an agreement with Rybinsk Motors and CFM international for the maintenance of the CFM-56 engines used by the airline.
Aeroflot has operated Boeing-737-400s with CFM-56-300 since May 1998 and now has ten of the aircraft in service. According to reports the first engine has 6,238 hours out of a total of 100,000 hours flown by the 737 engines.
MAK, the Russian Interstate Aviation Committee, and its French counterpart have also signed an agreement for the supervision and control of the production of the components for the CFM-56 type engine by Rybinsk. The production of the parts, which is due to commence in 2001, is valued at $10m.
