Uzbekavialeasing plans leases

Il-114 and Il-76 aircraft for Russian and western airlines

Published: 6/21/2000

Ulukbeck Narov, General Director of Uzbek leasing company Uzbekavialeasing, says the company plans to lease more than 30 passenger Il-114s and cargo Il-76T and -TD to Russian and western airlines over the next couple of years. According to Narov, the delivery of three P&W powered Il-114-100 to Uzbekistan's national carrier Uzbek Airlines will begin in the fourth quarter of 2000. It has also been discussing since January, the possible delivery of three Il-114 to the small St.-Petersburg based regional carrier Vyborg, under a financial leasing deal. Little is known however, of the carrier's ability to service such a transaction. This is a view, rather disturbingly, agreed with by sources within Uzbekavialeasing. Despite media reports of a lease to an unnamed Singapore carrier, Uzbekavialeasing says that it has yet to sign the deal and is therefore reluctant to name the counter party. The negotiations on deliveries of Il-114s to several airlines from Southeast Asia (Singapore, India, Vietnam, and Cambodia) are reported to be in progress. Narov also said that two Kazak airlines, Euro-Asia Air and Irtysh-Avia, plan to lease three to eight Il-114s. There has also been reported interest in another Tashkent product, the Il-76, from an unnamed Latvian airline, which is reported to have interest in five Il-76s. Earlier reports of demand for 30 Il-76TD-90s and PS-90 powered Il-76TF from Estonian and Latvian carriers were, according to Uzbekavialeasing, incorrect. For the aircraft's producer TAPO it appears that the formation of the Ilyushin Aircraft Company may be nearing completion. Vadim Kucherov, General Director of TAPO, has been reported as stating that the llyushin Intergovernmental Aircraft Company, combining TAPO, VASO and Ilyushin, should be established by the end of 2000.
