Brazil trades beef for Russian helicopters

Trade discussions for beef imports

According to recent reports, a visit by a Brazilian trade delegation was primarily aimed at the discussion of trading Brazil's beef for Russian helicopters. Under the deal, the Brazilian beef exporters would be paid for their product by the Brazilian government, which Russia would then pay for in the form of helicopters and other vehicles. Russian currently imports 600,000 tonnes of beef a year and has similar credit agreements with the USA and Europe, although not involving the trading of helicopters. It was unreported how many helicopters might be involved in the deal.
