South Korea tender

Russian bids for attack helicopter (110 words)

Published: 8/18/2000

According to reports from the Military New Agency, Sergey Mikheyev, General Designer of Kamov, considers the participation of two Russian helicopters in the tender competition for the South Korean attack helicopter as ill considered. He argues that the two Russian bids in the $1.8bn deal, supported by two government agencies, Rosvoorzhenie in the case of Kamov and Promexport in the case of Mil and the Mi-28N, should be better coordinated by government and focus on the objective of improving Russian exports not have Russian producers compete against one another. The short list for the tender will be revealed, according to reports, in September or October.
