Krasair will take delivery of its first Tu-204 on the 27th October according
to local media reports and slightly ahead of schedule as Aviastar reported they
intended to deliver the aircraft in November. More puzzling are the media reports
for the delivery of the second aircraft due to be delivered according to the
media by the year-end.
This may come as something of a surprise to Aviastar, who have a schedule to
deliver three aircraft in the last quarter: one to Kavminvodyavia, one to Krasair and one to Sirocco/Air Cairo by the year-end.
Fleet of ten in five years
The two Krasair aircraft are intended to replace a number of aircraft including
their aging fleet of Il-62s as part of a fleet of ten TU-204t to be acquired
over the next five years. The airline is also reported to be looking to acquire
Boeing 737 for international routes, but is reported to be less keen on the
current power offering on the Tu-334. Krasair believes that the D-436T1 on the
aircraft, which restarted flight trials this week., has insufficient range for
the Krasair network, but says that it is still willing to consider the aircraft
with the planned ZMKB Progress D-436T2 or the Rolls Royce BR715.
