TAT wins helicopter contract in Eritrea

Tyumenaviatrans has reported that on the 23rd of October 2000 a Volga-Dnepr's An-124-100 carried 4 Mi-8MTW helicopters to Eritrea to work in with the UN's mission.

According to TAT, the 12 month $8 m contract, with the option of a one year extension, reflects the airline's good standing with the UN that warded the contract to the Surgut based carrier after a tender The TAT operation employees 32 TAT personnel who will provide the mission with 2 helicopter 24-hour coverage.

By the end of 2000 TAT forecasts that it will derive around $21 m of revenues from from international activity; a substantial improvement on the $4m TAT booked in 1999.
