Mi-26 sale to Samsung Aerospace

Rosvertol to supply helicopters (115 words)

Published: 3/7/2001

South Korean Samsung Aerospace intends to procure two Mi-26s from Rosvertol, according to its Rostov-based plant. The plant's spokesman has indicated that the order is likely to be for rescue helicopters, which can double up for fire-fighting duty. Samsung Aerospace will then maintain the helicopters at their own facilities. South Korea currently operates a fire-fighting version of the Mi-26, which was delivered in 1997. South Koreans currently offer Rosvertol cooperation in the sale of the Russian helicopter, not only on the South Korean market, but also in Japan, China and some South East Asian countries (including Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia).
