Moscow and Larnaca route agreement

Russian and Cypriot airlines to share new route (139 words)

Aeroflot and Cyprus Airways have announced that they will operate a joint route between Moscow and Larnaca from 1st May 2001, as part of a general agreement between the two airlines. Aeroflot will operate flights once each day, using Tu-154Ms and Il-86s, to the popular Russian vacation destination between 25th March and 25th April. Flights will increase to two per day from 25th June until September 15th, one of which will be flown by a Boeing 737. Cyprus Airways will fly three times a week throughout the period, in addition to providing coverage outside the traditional Russian vacation periods. Currently, Aeroflot says it that it carries 46% of the estimated 80,000 passengers who fly to Cyprus from Russia each year, while Cyprus Airways carries 29%.
