The season of summer schedules is upon us and Sibir introduces its new summer schedule on 25th March 2001 through to 27th October 2001.
The new schedule involves a 58% increase in flights during the summer, with 190 planned flights per week, with 40 of these flights being to international destinations (an increase over the 31 flights during summer 2000).
Sibir will focus on fewer destinations, with a smaller number of flights to Russian holiday resorts and more to international resorts. Plans include charter flights from Novosibirsk to Larnaca, Antalya, Varna and Barcelona; and from Moscow to Larnaca, Antalya, Palma del Mallorka, Varna, Bodrum, Rimini, Dalaman, Istanbul, Bourgas and Barcelona. This represents a significant increase over the 2000 schedule that flew to Larnaca, Antalya, Burgas and Varna; from Moscow to Larnaca, Antalya and Palma del Mallorca.
To fly after 1st April 2001 within ECAS airspace, the airline has equipped 5 Tu-154Ms and 2 Il-86s with Allied Signal TCAS2 version 7. The airline's 1 Il-86 however, is equipped with TCAS version 6 from Collins. Sibir plans to equip 3 more aircraft with TCAS by the end of April 2001.
Flights to the German cities of Hanover, Frankfurt, and Munich have also increased. 15 flights are planned per week, from Omsk and Novosibirsk to Hanover and Frankfurt, up from the 8 flights per week in 2000. Flights from Moscow to Munich have also risen from 2 per week to 3 during the summer 2001.
Sibir will also continue to operate its regular routes from Novosibirsk to China, South Korea and UAE and also charter routes to Israel. Domestically, the airline will increase flight frequencies from Novosibirsk to Vladivostok, St. Petersburg, Samara, Irkutsk, and Yakutsk.
