Growing steel exports support route (117 words)
Published:
4/4/2001
Based in Cherepovets, Vologda region and a subsidiary of major steel maker, Severstal Airlines has started operating Cherepovets - St. Petersburg - Riga route on the 3rd of April 2001. The launch of the twice-weekly route using a Yak-42 has been delayed for almost a month due to problems with gaining the approval of the Latvian authorities, according to the airline.
The major reason for opening the routes according to the airline is the business being undertaken by its parent with the Baltic States and the plans to increase metal deliveries to 120,000 tonnes this year.
Severstal Airlines operates 6 aircraft and flies from Cherepovets to Helsinki via Petrozavodsk, Moscow, and St. Petersburg and fulfils Severstal's aviation requirements.
