Published:
5/16/2001
According to Konstantin Sukhorebrik, General Director of Sakhalin Airlines (SAT), the airline is still in negotiations with Boeing over the possible lease of additional aircraft, to join the airline's existing Boeing 737-200.
Sukhorebrik confirmed that the first round of negotiations took place in late April 2001, in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and that financing and purchasing options are currently being discussed for one or two aircraft, with the Boeing 737-700 being the preferred aircraft, according to reports.
Further discussions are due to take place in late May - early June, when senior representatives from Boeing and from oil companies operating in the island - to whom SAT plans to provided air support services - are expected to meet in Sakhalin. At present, the airline currently operates one Boeing 737, seven An-24s, one An-26 and two Il-62s.
