Two Tu-154Ms for TAT

TAT expands fleet, but remains tightlipped on details (140 words)

Published: 5/21/2001

Tyumenaviatrans (TAT) has acquired two Tu-154Ms, with the support of the Khanty-Mansiysk regional administration, which holds an 8.8% stake in the company. Inessa Gousseva, spokesperson for TAT in Moscow would not elaborate on the nature of the support. The company plans to use the two aircraft on its scheduled and charter routes and has already started operating the aircraft on the Krasnodar - Surgut route. Gousseva was also reluctant to reveal the age of the aircraft, except to say they were "quite new”. She refused to say from whom they had been acquired, but rejected rumours that they were two of the aircraft recently sold by Hungarian carrier, Malev. Currently, TAT operates nine Tu-154Ms and twoTu-134s and, during 2001, plans to acquire three more Tu-154s and five more Tu-134s.
