Code sharing approval also granted (126 words)
Published:
5/21/2001
Siberia Airlines (Sibir) and Vnukovo Airlines (VAL) have received the expected official approval from GSGA to merge fleets. Alexander Neradko, the Director of GSGA, signed the order on 18th May 2001.
According to Sibir, the order states that, as part of the Russian government's policy of merging and acquisition in the airline sector and considering the approval of the merger by shareholders from both airlines, the Ministry will allow Sibir and VAL to use shared codes for both scheduled and charter flights.
The approval of code sharing, ahead of the legal merger, will provide for greater flexibility, allowing the merged entity to use aircraft across both networks and so achieve higher levels of utilisation.
