KrasAir and Aeroflot open new routes

Tu-134s used to develop domestic networks (134 words)

Published: 7/27/2001

On 23rd July, Krasnoyarsk Airlines (KrasAir) opened a new route to Almaty from Krasnoyarsk, via Novosibirsk. According to the airline's spokesperson, Elena Antoshina, the route flies each Monday and is an extension of an existing service operating between the airline's home base and Novosibirsk, using a Tu-134. On 26th July, Aeroflot also opened a new daily route, using a Tu-134 from Moscow to Astrakhan. According to the airline, the Tu-134 is in a two-class configuration, with eight of the aircraft's 68 seats in business class. Aeroflot sees the opening of the route part of its general strategy for the development of its domestic network, as a means of carrying passengers from Astrakan through to international destinations via Moscow on a single ticket.
