Archangelsk Airlines makes progress on upgrades

More money and time still needed for ACAS equipment (115 words)

Published: 8/1/2001

Archangelsk Airlines (AVL) has received its fourth An-24 from overhaul in Kiev. The aircraft, one of five owned by the airline, was delivered on 27th July and is intended for use on international routes from Archangelsk - Murmansk - Tromse (Norway) and Archangelsk - Murmansk - Rovaniemi (Finland) - Lulea (Sweden), while AVL equips its aircraft with ACAS under the extension granted until 30th September 2001, by Eurocontrol. The company, however, still needs financing for the $1.2m required to equip six aircraft with ACAS and remains hopeful that TACIS will provide funding and that Eurocontrol will concede a further extension.
