On 6th November, an army Mi-8 crashed in the Leningrad Region close to St Petersburg, with the loss of all six people onboard. The helicopter, based in the Moscow military district, was flying in what has been described as poor weather conditions, with heavy snow, from a helicopter repair facility at Gorelovo in the Leningrad Region to the army's major helicopter base at Torzhok in the Tver Region.
