Lufthansa reports increases in passenger traffic on its Frankfurt-Riga route during 9mo01 (130 words)
Published:
11/21/2001
Lufthansa increased traffic between the Latvian capital Riga and Frankfurt by 7.7% to 46,700 passengers between January and October 2001. Traffic on the Riga - Frankfurt route rose by 6.2% to a total of 24,100 passengers, with an increase of 9.4%on the Frankfurt - Riga route, to 22,600 passengers.
The airline attributed the rise in part to Riga's 800th anniversary celebrations in August, which attracted high numbers of tourists to the city. However, in October, it witnessed a 6.3% decline in passengers flying from Riga, reflecting global conditions, although flights from Frankfurt experienced only a 1.9% decline in comparison.
In October 2001, Lufthansa celebrated the 10th anniversary of the launch of its Frankfurt - Riga route.
