Support by Tymenaviatrans' helicopters in Eritrea to be prolonged until October next year (90 words)
Published:
11/22/2001
The United Nations (UN) has extended its helicopter support contract with Tyumenaviatrans (TAT) in Eritrea until October 2002.
The contract provides for coverage by four Mi-8MTWs and is reported to be worth $7.4m, a reduction of $0.5m on the previous contract, although a company spokesperson said that the sum refelcted a reduced committment. Another TAT Mi-8MTW is operating for the UN in Eritrea under a separate 12 month agreement signed in September 2001 for $1.4m. In addition to Eritrea, 19 of TAT's helicopters provide support for the UN's peacekeeping missions in Western Sahara, Sierra Leone, Eastern Timor.
TAT has also announced an EGM on the 18th December to appoint a new external auditor. The early election reported to be due to the complaint of a shareholder about the quality of the existing auditors work.
