Tyumenaviatrans (TAT) has reported that the UN has extended the airline"s contract to provide helicopter support for the UN"s peacekeeping mission in Sierra Leone for another year.
The new agreement for two Mi-8MTW is worth $4.1 m, and joins the other contracts that TAT currently has with the UN in the West African country, for two Mi-8Ts and two Mi-26T. In total the airline now has 19 helicopters on UN contracts in Western Sahara, Eritrea and Eastern Timor, including 3 Mi-26, 11 Mi-8MTW, and 5 Mi-8T.
During 2001 TAT has won 7 UN tenders and had 4 contracts extended, allowing it in part at least, to predict the growth of its international business from $21.75m in 2000 to $35m in 2001.
