According to Krasnoyarsk Airlines (KrasAir) the airline has increased its traffic in the first eleven months of 2001 by 40.7% to 960,000 passengers.
Increasing its flights in the period by 55%, the airline also reports an increase in load factor of 4% to 69%. With the possibility that load factors for the year could improve further given that the airline is now in the heavy traffic seasonal celebration period.
The company, as it has for the last few months attributes its improvement to improved time tabling and use of Krasnoyarsk Airport as a hub; where traffic is up by more than 48% in the first eleven months of the year servicing 367,500 passengers. According to a company spokesman the traffic growth is also having a positive effect on the company"s financial performance, with revenues up by 45% in the period to $110m.
While accepting KrasAir"s contribution to its own success, there is little doubt that the passenger air transport sector overall is growing rapidly and up by 15.7% in the first eleven months overall. It is also evident that the major beneficiaries will continue to be the larger carriers, particularly the super regionals such as KrasAir and Sibir.
