No air corridor space for Russians

Russia having air access problems to Kosovo

Published: 6/15/1999

It seems that the problem of Russia"s approach to KFOR in Kosovo is presenting them with reinforcement and re-supply problems. As of 10:00 Moscow time 15/6/99 none of three East European countries - Hungary, Bulgaria or Romania - had provided an air corridor for aircraft carrying Russian servicemen to take part in the Kosovo peacekeeping operation. Interfax also reports that according to informed sources in the Russian Defence Ministry, reinforcement of the Russian battalion at Pristina airport , poses a problem for the Russian military, although efforts were being made to supply from Bosnia over land.
