MAPO says $40,000 Avaitka-890 could represent 20% of their civil production if certified
Published:
9/23/1999
Oleg Chukantsev, Deputy Director of MAPO Civil Aircraft, has repeated claims that MAPO will be able to produce and sell up to 150 Aviatica-890 one and two-seater planes, if the aircraft is certified to JAR VLA standards (www.concise.org 27th May 1999). This would constitute 20 % of MAPO's total civil aircraft production, including the Il-103.
The application for obtaining a type certificate for Aviatica-890 will be shortly submitted. To date, MAPO has sold about 300 and over 80 are being flown in Russia. In 1998, MAPO sold 15 Aviatica-890 planes, including five agricultural variants at $40, 000 each. Market demand for the agricultural version of Aviatica - the only one in its class among Russian agricultural planes - is estimated to be 1200-1500. Aviatica-890 was sold to 17 countries.
