PZL-Mielec Cargo

The creation of PZL-Mielec Cargo, the cargo airport at the Special Economic Zone was unveiled recently. Vice President Piotr Mikolajewski belives there are good prospects for the new airport. Approximately, 10,000 metric tonnes per annum throughput is planned with growth to 30,000 expected within a few years, which would make it the second largest cargo airport in Poland after Warsaw Okecie. The company is expected to take approximately two years. Sources in Warsaw suggest that Lufthansa, UPS and Air Canada have shown strong interest in the project.(IN1097.11) (MM)
