It appears that the long-running saga of the financing of Surgut"s new terminal (and reconstruction of its old) in north western Russia, has come to an end, with the announcement by the Chairman of the City's committee of the State Property, Vladislav Nesterov that the new terminal will be in operation by July.
The break-through in funding the joint stock company, Airport Surgut, to undertake the development has been the acceptance by the company"s shareholders, including Surgutgazprom, a subsidiary of Gazprom, Tyumenenergo, Tyumenaviatrans, Kogalym-Avia and the city's administration, to accept dilution if the state finances the airport"s development.
The administration of the Khanty-Mansiysk region has been involved in a number of airport developments supporting the construction of Khanty-Mansiysk international airport, and also a plan from Vladislav Nesterov to create a holding company including the regional air companies of Nizhnevartovsk, Surgut, and Khanty-Mansiysk.
