New flight approaches

Sheremetyevo to change approaches to accomodate race track and golf course

The government of the City of Moscow has requested that Sheremetyevo Airport changes its take-off and landing approaches to allow for the building of a Formula 1 racetrack, a golf course and housing development. According to Shamil Tarpischev, advisor to Mayor Lushkov, the development is already funded to the tune of $300-350m by a group of German ‘gas companies". Sheremetyevo Airport supports the project, but says the rerouting will add about three minutes to the flight time of those leaving and arriving at the airport.
