Rostvertol to provide helicopter for emergency use

Second Mi-26 for Mexico/ Mexico"s Air Force is reported to be preparing to buy a second Mi-26 heavy transport helicopter, manufactured in Rostov-on-Don, southern Russia. Rostov"s Rostvertol is believed to be preparing a contract for the sale and has begun pre-sale procedures. The Mexican Air Force acquired its first Mi-26 through the foreign trade company, Aviazapchast, with Mexican pilots and technicians trained by Rostvertol. They are also an established operator of the Mi-8 and are reported to be operating 12. The Mi-26 will be used in emergency situations, utilising its capacity to carry over 20 tonnes of cargo for heavy machinery, food, basic necessities and medicine. Two of the helicopters have recently been sold to Tyumenaviatrans for use on United Nations duties in West Africa.
