Aeroflot increase passengers in February

Load factors still low

Aeroflot carried 295,800 passengers in February an increase of 6.6% on February 1999. According to the company international passenger traffic was up by 4.7% and passenger traffic on domestic routes 13.4%. The cargo volume also increased by 30.2% to 7,600 tonnes, with cargo carried on international routes up by 28.3% and on domestic routes 47.7% compared to February 1999. The airlines seat load factor increased at a somewhat slower rate than overall volumes reflecting the additions to the Aeroflot fleet, with occupancy at 57.6% or 1.2% more than in February 1999. Given the aggressive restructuring of the Aeroflot route network internationally, it would seem likely that we will see a marked pickup in load factor during 2000.The commercial load factor also increased 3.9% to 50.1% in February 2000.
