Czechs say that Boeing should be more active in selling Aero Vodochody"s products

Antonin Peltram, Czech transportation minister, has told the Czech News Agency that Boeing needs to be more active in selling the products of the aircraft maker Aero Vodochody if it wants to sell its own planes to the Czech Republic. Peltram was attending a two-day symposium on civilian air transport in Central Europe, a forum which is devoted to supporting US exports to the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovenia. Peltram also met with Rodney Slater, US Secretary of Transportation, for talks about duty-free imports of US planes and spare parts. The Czech Republic would, in turn, require certain compensation about which Peltram was not specific. A consortium of Boeing and national air carrier Czech Airlines control roughly a one-third stake in Aero Vodochody, which has historically been the country"s largest defence manufacturer but has struggled in recent years.
