Izhevsk plant earns $100m

Kupol"s Izhevsk plant has dispatched 16 Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems

Published: 3/31/2000

Kupol has dispatched 16 Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile systems to an undisclosed foreign country in a contract worth more than $100m. This follows reports last year that Kupol"s contract to export 21 Tor-21 systems to Greece was on schedule for first deliveries in August 1999, with the $526m contract expected to be completed in late August 2000. Recent reports from the FIDAE-2000 show in Santiago Chile, suggest that the Greeks may be interested in buying more systems, under an option in the original contract signed 2 years ago for 29 systems worth $700m. According to Yuri Shestakov, company director, 90% of the company"s products go for export. The company also has plans to manufacture 32 Tor-M1 systems annually under the Russian Army"s rearmament programme. www.concise.org 17th June 1999: Tor-M1 deliveries draw near
