Non-payment of fuel bills has resulted in cuts

Following similar problems at Aviastar, Aviakor based in Samara, which has recently been hit by a wildcat strike, has run into problems with its utility company Samarenergo. Since 15th May, the steam supply to Aviakor has been cut by 50% as a result of Avaikor's non-payment of the plant's fuel bills. According to Aviakor's Serguey Makarov, the cuts will reduce the plant's flexibility and enforce a rigid schedule for the site, although given Samara's winters the loss of heat is less of an issue. The plan to realise some cash from selling the notes of Samara Airlines through Gazbank failed to materialise and the plant has sought other means of funding, resulting in payments on the outstanding debt of 1.8m rubles on 27th April and 3m rubles planned for 22nd May. Samarenergo is reported to be taking a strong line with all its customers who are in arrears.
