First scheduled flight for Nikolayev Airport

New weekly route to Kiev (110 words)

Published: 7/14/2000

Viktor Zub, General Director of Nikolayev International Airport has announced the opening of a new scheduled flight, the airport's first, on 3rd July. The airport to date has only handled charter flights and has been attempting to get scheduled traffic for some period of time, but was thwarted by the lack of viability of scheduled connections. The new route to Kiev, flown by Kirovograd Airlines three times a week, appears to have overcome the viability problem by pre-selling part of its available tickets to local enterprises with the encouragement of the regional government. The airport management is now considering opening flights to Moscow and Baku.
