Il-76TDs sold

Auction only brings two bidders (160 words)

Published: 9/11/2000

According to the State Property Fund for the Altai region, the sale of three Il-76TDs raised 18.06m rubles, slightly above the minimum reserve for the auction of 17.2m ($660,000). The aircraft were bought by Altai-based ZAO ATTs (Aircraft Technical Centre) formerly part of the bankrupted Barnaul State Aviation Enterprise (BSAE) otherwise known as Barnaul Airlines. This was one of two companies participating in the auction, the other being Moscow-based Mega-Air The ATT now has 12 aircraft, having benefited from the liquidation of Altaisky Airlines (previously part of BSAE) in the middle of 2000 by the regional administration, which resulted in the leasing of nine aircraft (An-12 and An-2) to the enterprise. The other graduate of BSAE, Airline Altai, which inherited the carrier's Tu-134s, plans to extend the runway at Barnaul Airport allowing expanding its transit business, which is already receiving transit flights for China, the Emirates and Turkey.
