Tula Airline's aircraft sold off

Little interest at very low prices (160 words)

Published: 9/11/2000

On 15th August 2000, the Federal Debts Centre (TRFDC) held an auction to sell aircraft as part of the liquidation of state-owned Tula Airlines. According to the spokesman for TRFDS 19 aircraft (14 An-2s, four An-24s and one An-26B) were being offered for sale, but only two aircraft were sold. With no interest in the An-2s despite the price of Rb32,000 ($1,100), due to the age of the aircraft which averaged 35 years. An An-24 produced in 1969 was offered for sale at Rb132,000 ($4,700) was sold for the minimum price despite interest from two buyers. The cargo An-26B produced in 1983 sold above its reserve of Rb1.55 m ($55,400) achieving $83,000. An undisclosed buyer from Slovenia according to the TRFDC bought both aircraft. The remaining aircraft seem likely to be sold for scrap. The proceeds from the sale will go to pay salary debts to Tula Airlines' employees.
