New airliners for Aeroflot

Published: 10/29/1997

Fifteen new aircraft of various sizes will reinforce the Aeroflot fleet at the beginning of next year, starting with the cargo fleet. The Russian-made Il-96T will undergo operational tests in late-October, and two more will be delivered in 1998. Most of the new passenger aircraft will be foreign-made. As well as the two A310-300s referred to above, the company is preparing to receive eight B737-400 in 1998. Aeroflot has also signed a contract with CFM for the servicing of engines by Aeroflot technicians in Sheremetyevo. Two B777-200 with a capacity of 311 passengers may also be leased next year.(AL1097.7) (VZ)
