Krakow's Belice Airport set to increase passenger capacity

US engineer gets contract (130 words)

Published: 10/4/2000

The US engineering firm HNTB is drawing up re-development plans for the Krakow-Belice airport that are to be ready by February 2001. The plans envisage a rise in passenger capacity, currently growing at 15% per annum, from the current half a million passengers to 4 million over the next two decades. HNTB has already invested $100,000 into the project while a further $350,000 has been added by the US Trade Development Agency. The total cost of increasing passenger capacity of the airport to 1.3 million is projected to be $11 million and the second terminal $100 million. The first stage of the development of the second terminal is to be completed by 2005-2006. HNTB have also put in a tender to re-develop Warsaw's Okecie airport.
