Published: 10/31/2000

Kazan Helicopters (KVZ) has commenced delivery of Mi-17-1V to India under a $170m contract signed in May 2000. The deliveries are reported to have commenced on the 19th October 2000 and will continue though to 2001 when 40 aircraft will have been delivered.

According to the Deputy Finance Director of KVZ, Nikolay Privalov, the plant will receive a $10m loan from Baltoneximbank , which is underwritten by Aviaexport , cited as the agent for the deal in June along with Promexport. The aircraft, according to Russian daily Vedmosti, will be in a civilian layout, but earlier reports suggested that Promexport's involvement in the deal was as the provider of the optional armament
