Auxitrol ponders further investment in JV

Equipment venture looks to expand(120 words)

Published: 11/2/2000

According to local reports, the joint venture EKA founded by state owned Electropribor in 1995 with France's Auxitrol, is about to gain a further investment from its French partner. Auxitrol however, states that the negotiation is still underway and is reluctant to comment ahead of agreement.

The funds according to the General Director of ZAO EKA Yevgeny Zhadobov, will be used for expanding production and service support for the company's products. EKA turned over $250,000 in 1999, providing equipment to primarily Russian OEM's with the plant's 16 customers including Aviadvigatel, Klimov and Kazan Helicopter. The joint venture provides a range of products including aviation pressure, temperature and speed sensors for the domestic and world markets and is cooperating with Electropribor for the subcontracting of machinery spare parts.

The company also produces components for Auxitrol for assembly in France and produces and sells Auxitrol designed equipment in Russia. Currently employing 12 people, with 40 workers from the host plant producing units, the JV expect to increase its turnover threefold by 2003.
