Lithuanian Airlines Director General appointed (117 words)
Published:
4/9/2001
The former Managing Director of Lithuanian Airlines (LAL) Stasys Jarmalavicius has been reappointed Director General of the soon to be privatized airline.
Chosen out of four candidates, Jarmalavicius was supported by four members of the airline's board of five including the State Property Fund, who control 100% of the airline.
Jarmalavicius has already announced his intention of reducing the airline's headcount from 1000 to 650 and a reduction of the number of types of aircraft operated by the airline from five to two. He also said to be looking for a alliance hookup.
Jarmalavicius worked at the airline between 1997 and the spring of 2000 as Managing Director and was fired due to the airline's poor performance.
