Published: 4/20/2001

Alexander Kozlov, the 55-year-old General Director of Samara Airlines has unexpectedly resigned according to the airline. Kozlov apparently announced his retirement at a recent Samara board meeting without warning. Kozlov has been General Director of Samara Airlines since 1996, having previously been General Director of AeroVolga, which was acquired by Samara last year in February 2000. The Board of Directors has appointed Rodion Kovalev, Samara's financial director as acting General Director. The shareholders of Samara will elect the new General director at the company's AGM on 14th of June 2001. According to reports, Rodion Kovalev is under 30 years old and is close to Titov, Governor of Samara region through a friendship with the governor's son.
