An-74TK-300 rollout in second quarter
|
|
Final assembly starts at Kharkov
Published:
3/29/2000
It appears from press reports in the Ukraine that the assembly of the An-74TK-300 is running a little behind schedule. Expected to be rolled out in the first quarter of 2000, the Kharkov Aviation Plant is reported to have just started the final assembly of the first aircraft.
The An-74TK-300 is derived from the An-74 STOL transport, identifiable by its distinctive above the wing engine positioning. The new aircraft has its engines under the wing on pylons and while losing some of the STOL capability, has a significant saving in fuel consumption of between 15-20%.
The aircraft under the assembly is expected to start test flights in the second half of 2000.
